For 2021, we’ve reimagined our popular Run/Walk/Roll in Lauren’s Shoes to be safe for our CP community, while still promoting exercise, kindness, and inclusion.
Laps For Love is a hybrid event that gives you the option to participate at one of our designated courses at Wilkeson Pointe on the Buffalo Waterfront, or virtually from any location. The family-friendly and accessible event takes place June 6-13, allowing you to choose when you run, walk, roll to support the Make LemonAide Foundation for Cerebral Palsy.
This will be our only major fundraising event for the year. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to support our physical therapy grant program that expands access to the First Step Recovery Model.
How it works
Register for Laps of Love. The registration fee is $25, which includes your choice of the 5K or 1-mile event, a T-shirt (if registered by May 21), and access to the outdoor inclusion exhibit at the Buffalo Waterfront.
Create a fundraiser page, set your fundraising goal, and share your story about why you are raising money for individuals with cerebral palsy.
Choose your date (between June 6-13) and location based on your schedule and comfort level. If participating at Wilkeson Pointe, please remember to practice social distancing and wear a mask.
Get out there and walk/run/roll with your family, furry friends, and anyone you feel safe around. We encourage you to post photos with the hashtag #LapsOfLove2021 for both the 1-mile and 5k.
Thursday, April 15: Registration opens.
Friday, May 21: Registration deadline to receive a T-shirt.
Sunday, June 6 & Saturday, June 12 from 11am-4 pm: T-shirt pickup at Wilkeson Pointe (near Longboards Paddle Co.), 225 Fuhrmann Boulevard, Buffalo, NY 14203.
Sunday, June 6 – Sunday, June 13: Participate any time at Wilkeson Pointe, around your neighborhood, or wherever you feel comfortable.
Please note: the Make LemonAide Foundation for CP will be not on site for this event except for the T-shirt pickup
About cerebral palsy
Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common motor disability for children – one that can make talking, walking, and other everyday tasks a monumental challenge. Yet there is no federal funding for CP research. But with your help, we can give hope to those affected by this forgotten disability.
Proceeds from the Laps of Love and fundraising are used to bring a cutting-edge physical therapy approach – the First Step Recovery Model – to Western New York. We do this by awarding grants for individuals to receive therapy. In just a short period of time, local families are already seeing life-changing results from this PT model
1-Mile Course and Outdoor Inclusion Exhibit
The 1-mile course at Wilkeson Pointe will feature our new Laps of Love Inclusion Exhibit. Along the path, you will find signs that promote CP awareness, celebrate inclusion, and foster acceptance for those with disabilities. We ask you to please wear a mask.
Stay tuned for updates on the exhibit as we get closer to event week!
If you want to go the distance, choose our traditional race route. The flat, fast, and USATF-certified 5k course gives you a tour of the beautiful Buffalo Waterfront. Timing is on your own – you do not have to submit your finishing time and there will not be published results. Please wear a mask when others are on the path and social distancing isn’t possible.
