Who’s your 911 call? Who do you call when you need some comfort? Who do you call when your struggling? Who do you call when you need someone to sit with just so you’re not alone? Recently, a lovely human (who is my mentor, teacher, and friend) and I were talking about mental health struggles. I have a laundry list full of mental health boxes I could check “yes” to, but I am not someone that would appear to from an outside glance or observation. I feel like this can be dangerous because then people might not think that we are struggling and that we need support. Don’t be afraid to ask someone how they are doing, and please really try to listen to their answer and dig deeper. We all need to open up to someone. We all need to express the things that are eating us up inside. Who is your safe place and who are you a safe place for?
We all need a person. Don’t be afraid to be someone’s person. Don’t be afraid to need a person for support. It’s normal, natural, and healthy.
